We had a very specialized position to fill and placed three separate advertisements. One was the local Sunday newspaper, and two were at Internet sites. We were skeptical about the results that Internet advertising might bring, but having had less than great results from newspaper advertising alone we decided to test the waters. We received a few applications based on our newspaper ad, and very underwhelming results from the national Internet site, which was more expensive than the other two options combined but produced the least 'hits.' By far the best results with the most qualified applicants came from our EugeneJobs.net ad. The cost was comparable to a small newspaper ad, but the results were clearly better.
